The Royal Wedding Flowers
After months of speculation about the dress, the hair, the flowers we all got to see the beauty of everything coming together on 29th April. I was so excited to see what Kate was going to choose for her wedding bouquet and she didn’t disappoint. A woman after my own heart, a simple bouquet of lily of the valley, sweet william and hyacinth.
Lily of the valley is my absolute favourite flower, along with David Austin roses. Meaning ‘return of happiness’ it is so appropriate for a wedding bouquet, and the scent is wonderful. The small, deliacte bells with their heavinly fragrance just gently lean over to create a stunning shape, it’s a great choice for a bridal bouquet. Due to it’s expensive price tag and limited availability, it’s sometimes a rare choice for brides. However, if you are getting married late March- early May, a few stems mixed with other flowers may be a good choice. I got married on 8th April 2011 and had a bouquet of David Austin roses, freesia and lily of the valley……simple divine!
